Denise joined the PFA team in July 2017 as an Assistant Tax and Accounting Manager. She brings over 30 years of experience in the accounting field to PFA, her most recent as an accountant with Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants in the HSHS Health System. Although the funeral business is new to her, she has assisted many small businesses with her bookkeeping knowledge.

Jeff has worked with Funeral Professionals, giving more than 30 years to the funeral industry. Jeff started his career as an intern at Federated Funeral Directors of America in Springfield, IL as a tax preparer, working his way up to an Executive Accountant. He is dedicated to assisting his clients maximize profit, minimize tax, and achieve their goals. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Springfield and is an Enrolled Agent. As an Enrolled Agent, he is recognized to practice before the IRS.

Tom comes to PFA with nearly twenty-one (21) years of experience with Federated Funeral Directors of America, a national accounting, tax and consulting firm in the funeral industry. For the majority of his tenure, he was Manager of the Advanced Planning Department. His responsibilities included overseeing the preparation of Business Valuations, Succession & Estate Planning, Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate, Partnership, Individual, Estate & Gift Tax Planning & Preparation, and other Advanced Financial Planning & Consulting Engagements.

Funeral Service Consultant & Vice President - Partner

Dan is a goal-oriented funeral entrepreneur with a 30+ year record of achievement and demonstrated success in the funeral industry. He has owned multiple funeral homes and has worked with Funeral Professionals for the last several years to help them improve funeral home performance and profits and achieve their goals. He holds an Associates in Applied Science in Mortuary Science and Funeral Service from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He has been a Licensed Funeral Director, Embalmer, and Life Insurance agent. Dan manages sales, funeral rule compliance, client training, and promotions.

As Office Administrator, Barb provides day-to-day support for the PFA Tax and Accounting team. Barb comes to PFA with 26 years of experience when Lynn & Associates CPAs was acquired by PFA in January 2014. She is responsible for client billing and assisting in preparing income tax returns, financial statements, and other client matters. Barb is the friendly face and voice that welcomes all clients to PFA.

Chad joined PFA Tax and Accounting Professionals in 2022. He brings over ten years of experience in the accounting field to PFA, his most recent as a payroll administrator. Since 2014, he has worked exclusively in the funeral industry, with a strong proficiency in performing daily payroll operations. Chad comes to PFA in payroll services, assisting clients with day-to-day employee payroll transaction processing. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems/Computer Networking from ITT-Technical Institute.

Brad joined PFA Tax and Accounting Professionals in August 2013. He graduated from Illinois College with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. He previously worked as a staff accountant at a CPA firm in Springfield and as an intern and accountant for two grain companies in Illinois. At PFA, Brad prepares all types of tax returns and does monthly accounting. Brad has years of experience in the farming industry because of his own family farm. Growing up in a rural area makes his farm expertise even more valuable to PFA clients.

Kathy joined PFA Tax and Accounting Professionals in November 2014. Kathy is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in the State of Illinois. She brings 30 years of accounting experience to PFA, with her most recent employment at a CPA firm in Michigan. Kathy holds a bachelor's Degree from the University of Missouri in St. Louis. At PFA, she is responsible for Funeral Home clients nationwide and local farmers and small business clients.

Erin Lash joined PFA Tax and Accounting Professionals in 2013. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville. Erin brings years of customer service experience to PFA. She previously worked for Lynn & Associates CPAs in various roles. Her expertise in the area of payroll services makes her a great fit with PFA.

Jonathan Leonard

Assistant Tax & Accounting Manager

Jonathan joined PFA Tax and Accounting Professionals in August 2018, shortly after gaining his Certified Public Accountant license. He has spent most of his career in the fields of finance and accounting, working in the insurance industry and for the Illinois Secretary of State's Office. He also spent several years as a personal financial advisor and tax preparer before joining PFA. Jonathan has a bachelor's degree in business administration with a specialty in accounting from Robert Morris University.

Dylan joined PFA Tax and Accounting Professionals in April 2022. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Springfield in the Fall of 2021 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accountancy. He developed his accounting and tax skills as an intern for a CPA firm in Lincoln, IL. Dylan also has farming knowledge and experience that he has acquired by working for local farms in the Springfield area.

For more than 20 years, Brian has prepared individual and business income tax returns, along with other business tax filings and financial statements for Funeral Homes and Cemeteries. He holds an associate’s degree in Accountancy from Midstate College. As an Enrolled Agent, he is recognized to practice before the IRS.

Kendra comes to PFA with a background in law. She spent 21 years working as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal in a prominent Springfield law firm but came to PFA to assist us as a part-time Office Administrator in 2016 so that she could spend more time with her two very active boys. You may see or speak with Kendra while she’s helping Barb answer phones, greeting clients, or when ordering contract supplies.
